Sketchy

Taking photo's with Luis in a sketchy Madrid whorehouse. This is not easy when there's a slew of Moroccan pimps outside that don't like you and they're banging on the door.

I don't work till the end of the month so this is a part of my closet raid from yesterday. Posting old photos and keeping the mind busy.

Show came down

Wide angle

Bummer

Went down to Philly on Saturday to take down the show. It was nice to have a little more time with the place before everything came down. I've never done that many big prints before and it was pretty sweet having the luxury of stepping back 100 feet and really seeing it all at once.

Ian brought his 4x5 to do some copy work. He did some for me too and i'm stoked to have a wide angle shot with straight lines.

Thanks to Jocelyn Firth's tireless efforts I sold 7 30x40's so far putting me just over what I spent!

Winter Hikes

Found these 16"x20" prints at my parents today. Shot them during the winter of 2003/04 and forgot how much I liked 'em.

Nick at the track

I think this was taken in 1998 or 1999. Nick used to suavely scoop these programs out of the trash on the way through the gates.

Meadowlands in the summer makes having eyeballs so awesome.

What a face!!

Jose Gonzalez at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple

My friend Steve's girlfriend is their tour manager so we got some +1's. They let me stand around in front and take pictures.

Union Pool

Wilderness played all new songs at Union Pool. The sound was surprisingly good and the crowd was into it.

Wilderness is coming back to Brooklyn

One of my favorite bands is coming back to Brooklyn this Thursday @ union pool. They play the Whitney Biennial tonight. This photo is from my first test roll of the Mamiya 7 I bought a few years ago. Show was at the old North Six.

Last time dad was formal

I think this was after my dad's retirement party. He said he felt like a monkey.

Luis at work

This is a shit scan.. I have countless photos like this sitting in boxes. This particular picture is from the beach in Spain when Luis was shooting for Intersection magazine. We ended up putting little toy cars all over her body and some parking cones on her nipples.

Two models on a roof

Assisting Luis on his ma's roof in Valencia, Spain. This was for one of the last issues of The FACE magazine.

Luis in Antigua

This is pretty much how it looked. Crazy afternoon about five years ago. Completely forgot about this photo until now.

New hard drive/ Old photos

Gas pumps in Tokyo at dawn

Waiting at Narita airport

View from my hotel window.

Had to buy a new hard drive today and while cleaning up the old I found these 35mm photos from Tokyo.
This is the most visually exciting place I've ever been.

Two tear sheets

The top Fiery Furnaces tear sheet is from the October (i think) issue of Nylon. My first time shooting a band. We met up in Greenpoint. I thought it would be a good idea to bring slow film and get some shallow depth but this ended up a near disaster when most of the frames were out of focus. Lucky I had a posed static shot. Shot this on my old Pentax at f2.4. The depth of field on that particular lens is so nice but really hard to manage.

The bottom tear sheet is from the Jan/Feb issue of The Fader. Shot Mickey with a rented digital camera up on the 125th st subway platform. It took him about an hour to relax enough to where I could sneak around and shoot pictures unobtrusively. Worked out well and I was happy with the simple clean layouts that The Fader does.

Clarke in Argentina

Clarke had a job in Patagonia around christmas that I [hardly] assisted on.

Philly Show

Layout for our show in Philadelphia and a photo from the opening. Up till March 16th in the Ice Box Gallery. Thanks again to all my New York friends that came down.

Indoor test shot of Alan painting

Two pics from last weekend. First with no flash...second one with a bounce off the ceiling. Still figuring out indoor color balances with this new camera. Tricky in the top one cause they have those nasty enviromentally safe bulbs in that room. Don't know how to fix this yet.
