Ian's good side.

My friend and room mate Ian got a slot on PDN 30 this year. Each winner gets 4 photos plus their face on the jumbo-tron in times square next month.

I took the above picture of his face in our apartment last night. Final file is 30"x40".

Above is an outtake.

Round 2

Omaha fight photos. Here's a pic of Jason before we went inside.

The crowd.

Got my timing dialed this time..stoked on this..

..and this.

These next three aren't that good photography wise but the poses and moves are pretty sick.

Ref trying to remove the mouth guard from a knocked out fighter.

Insane punch pose.

The guy on the bottom won his fight with this arm busting move..

We flew back to a perfect September day in Newark.

Smiths Point

More from last weekend...

Went surfing at Smiths Point. I did real shitty and spent the remaining daylight hours getting bug bites. This deer was hanging around for a while.

Esao levitated his hat.

Steve surfed till sundown.

West Meadow

A few of us went out to Long Island last weekend for Steve's birthday.

The water at West Meadow beach was still nice and warm.

Old snapshots

Took a bunch of photos last week that I'll put up soon. In the meantime...here's some forgotten snaps from my old canon 20d.

The waters off the coast of Anguilla.

Sunrise over Miami

Flash on a hotel balcony.

Cold shoot on Wimbledon Common outside London. My entire card got erased except for this and 7 other photos... lost around 200.

Sold the camera shortly after I got back..right after taking this picture of Nick goofing around with some lost and found.

Montauk motel

This is from a Double magazine shoot Luis did a few years ago.

It was cold outside and the days were getting short so we had to improvise. Hotlights, people, props, and stands all in a very small little motel room.

Shot this with a Canon 20d that I owned for about 2 months.

Ocean at night

Just found this old photo from a job in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Creepy late night swim in a super warm water about 5 years ago.

I was standing in so Luis could focus.

Taken on a cold day during a Harpers Bazaar shoot. Ireland, July 2006.

More photos from the fight last weekend.

I was a little late on the impact below.  You can see the new wound just opened above his right eye though.

Auto focus doesn't work through the chain and you shoot wide open. All senses are at full alert trying to keep up. Getting an actual impact photo was very hard. A lot of my best pictures from the two fights were way out of focus.

The one above is my favorite. These two guys went at it for a full 15 minutes.

Media room

I spent the majority of last Saturday night in the Bowels of Philips Stadium. The media room is where journalists upload images and articles to the various newspapers.

TV's on every wall

This guy below got mashed up.

Two pics of Jason last Saturday in Atlanta.

The Bluebird diner had good food.

Sunday, September 7, 2008

I was in Atlanta assisting Jason last night during a UFC fight. He was shooting a job for ESPN magazine and lent me his press pass for a few bouts.

Being ringside with 20,000 people screaming is something I won't soon forget.
Above are some close crop jpegs... more full frames later.

More photos from last Monday.

Can't remember the last time I let a Helium balloon fly away.

Different variations of the same scenes from one post back.

B Day

Nick and I went home last week to celebrate our 28th and 29th birthdays... Ma had a cake.

Dad has been doing a lot of wood work around the house. Bounce flash off the balloon in this one below.

The used 20-35mm lens I just bought has shite contrast. Only saving grace is the lens flare because it changes color when you correct for the shadows. The two photos above are done with my 50mm and are so much richer.

Got a bunch more stuff I'll put up later this weekend.

We found this turtle laying eggs on the beach.

Not many people have cars in Nicaragua..these old school buses ran from inland cities to the coast.

Labor Day Subway

Clarke had another BBQ at his beach house last Sunday. A bunch of us took the train out.

Christian, Miri, Michael, and Emma waiting at the Broad Channel stop..

and fooling around waiting to go home again.
